The 9-1-1 service operates differently with a VoIP phone as compared to a conventional phone.
In a conventional phone, your 9-1-1 call is sent directly to the nearest emergency response
centre, but with a VoIP phone your call is directly forwarded to a third party service provider
that routes your call to the emergency response centre.
The emergency operator may not have your name, location or contact information any time you call 9-1-1
since your calls are routed through a third party.
Voicecool will attempt to provide the emergency operator with your service address and it is
important you keep your current address updated. Failure to do so may cause the emergency
operator to assume that you are calling from the last registered or an unknown address.
